Our Story
SmarterDumbphone is built by a husband-and-wife team with three little kids. After one of us switched to a flip phone to reduce distractions in our lives, we kept running into situations where just a flip phone wasn't enough -- it was too hard to look up basic information on the go or coordinate schedules without a smartphone.
So we built the first version of SmarterDumbphone for ourselves, and as it got better and better, we realized it could help others too. Now, we want to share it with the world to help others reduce distractions and stay connected without the constant pull of a smartphone.

We understand that trusting us with access to your email, calendar, or location data is a big deal. Here's exactly how we handle that responsibility:
- We don’t sell or share your data. Ever. No ads. No tracking. No third-party sales.
- We only access data when you ask us to. If you ask, “Do I have any meetings today?” we check today's events, generate a reply, then discard the data.
- We don’t store your sensitive data long-term. Chat messages are stored temporarily to debug and improve the service. They're never used to train AI models.
- Our providers follow strict rules. We sign contracts with services like OpenAI and Google requiring them to only use your data to fulfill your request—not to store, train on, or share it.
- You stay in control. You can unlink accounts or delete your data and account at any time by submitting a support request.
